The last panelist was the legendary Julie Newmar I met Julie at the Super Mega Show in 2006 and had seen her at several others over the years. During the interview with George Dick Ayers came in, a little clueless that there was an interview going on, to deliver a sketch George had ordered. Well then came the meeting of legends as Julie was taken with Dicks talented artwork and Dick Ayers was face to face with Catwoman. What more could a comic book artist ask for!
Check out the pictures of Julie and Dick talking and Julie holding up the sketch of Captain America!
Julie went on to talk about her career, she didn't enjoy talking about Science Fiction too much, when I asked about Buck Rogers she scowled at me a bit, it was a nice scowl though. Then we got on the subject of her dancing, who her first teachers were and what inspired her. She didn't realize I was looking up her films on the laptop while the interview was going on so I was able to mention a bunch of her early films which really brightened her up a bit.
At the end one of the show runners came in to tease her a little and in a gift of serendipty I ended up escorting her out at the end of the convention. She has a little trouble walking now and she needed someone to lean on a little, a job I was more than capable of doing. How many fans can say they walked arm in arm with Julie Newmar in New Jersey? Truly a wonderful lady, kind and classy. Thanks Julie Newmar!
