Captain Phil's Albacon 2008 Report and Photos!
SATURDAY Part Three
Wow! This is getting really long! Well after Todd's talks and the Starship Enterprise falling into a black hole somewhere around Schenectady I was pretty tired but stuck around for the collaboration panel and the McCaffery minus Pern panel
4:00pm Co-authoring & Collaboration Jackie Kessler, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller

Sharon Lee keeps hiding behind her microphone while describing the working relationship she has with Steve Miller. (But not the band)

Finally Jackie Kessler uses her telekinesis to move the mic over so I can get a clear picture of Sharon Lee! Thanks Jackie!
Afterwards Jackie adjusts her glasses and basks in the glow of a Sharon Lee picture well taken! Enjoy the limelight Mrs. Kesseler!
5:00pm McCaffrey minus Pern featuring: Jennifer Dunne, Rosemary Edghill and Mary Turzillo
This is a panel I recorded on video but never saw as my son needed a hamburger so I went to the hotels bar/restaurant to feed him the most expensive hamburger the world has ever seen.

My sister and I each had a soda plus a soda for my son so maybe that's why I had to apply to Congress for a loan (They're feeling generous right now) to pay for that thing. It only took 30 minutes for the waitress to bring me my check which helped me understand why they're called a "wait"-ress. 30 minutes though, they must have been inspired by Michael Phelps as they were moving much faster than the last time we ate there!
Okay, so I missed the panel but my wife went and then (AFTER my son ate the burger he HAD to have) we all went out to dinner!

After an enjoyable dinner I had a little time and managed to take a dip in the Crowne Plaze pool, something I'd never had time to do at an Albacon even though we always bring our bathing suits. The pool was really cold and the hot-tub was not bubbly but it was warmer so I decided to stay in the hot tub a bit and then head up for...
8:00pm The Saturday Night Extravaganza! Starring The Albacon Masquerade, a concert by Rebecca Angel and the world premiere of the Albacon horror film (running time, 2 minutes)
The masquerade had only 6 entries but this is Albacon what and they lack in numbers they make up for in enthusiasm. Albacon was the convention that generously had my children participate in the masquerade a few years back awarding them framed certificates at the end of the show. So I love the masquerade even when my kids aren't in it.
